1. Why should one visit Nagarahole Tiger Reserve ?

Nagarahole Tiger Reserve is renowned for its high-density tiger population in India, ranking prominently alongside esteemed reserves such as Corbett National Park and Kaziranga National Park.

This reserve is home to a diverse range of carnivores and herbivores, featuring species like Tiger, Leopard, Asiatic wild dog, Sloth bear, Asiatic Elephant, Gaur, Sambar, Chital, Muntjac (barking deer), Four-horned antelope, Wild pig, Mouse deer, and South-western langur. It is also a paradise for birdwatchers, offering regular sightings of various bird species in the area. The reserve plays a vital role in wildlife conservation under Project Tiger and Project Elephant.

Situated contiguously with Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala) to its south and Bandipur Tiger Reserve to its southeastern parts, Nagarhole plays a pivotal role in maintaining biodiversity.

Notably, the sanctuary is recognized for hosting the world’s largest herd of Asiatic elephants, adding to its significance in wildlife preservation. Explore Nagarhole for a glimpse of the thriving coexistence of diverse flora and fauna.

2. Does the Lodge offer Safari Services ?

Yes, we can help you to book safari tickets. It is recommended to book the safari seats well in advance.
Safari timings are from 6 am – 9 am and 3 pm – 6 pm. (operated by Jungle Lodges & Resorts)

3. What activities are available for children at the Lodge ?

We offer specially curated programs for children, including guided nature walks, with expert guidance from our naturalists, allowing them to explore and learn about the fascinating flora and fauna.

4. What Mobile Networks are available in the Lodge ? Is there WiFi ?

Airtel mobile network coverage is available within most parts of the property. The lodge offers free Wifi.

5. Why does the lodge not allow loud music ?

The Lodge is situated in an eco-sensitive area, and as part of our commitment to preserving the natural surroundings, loud music is not allowed on the premises. We aim to maintain a peaceful and harmonious environment for both our guests and the wildlife in the vicinity.

6. Driver accommodation

We don't have in-house driver accommodation but to make sure your driver is nearby, we can arrange accommodation within 4 km.

7. What should I pack and carry while on a wildlife holiday ?

Owing to the location of the Lodge insects and flies are frequent visitors hence, we recommend sleeve tops and trousers at all times. It is also recommended to avoid bright-coloured clothing to ensure we blend into the surroundings rather than stand out.

The lodge is also home to over 100+ species of birds and if you would like to catch them up close a Binocular would be your best friend.

Insect repellents are available on request at the Lodge but in case you have a particular choice in mind, we request you to carry the same.

8. Are there any restrictions to drive at night ?

Yes, as we need to cross the National Park to reach our Lodge. The gates of the National Park are closed between 6 pm to 6 am every day.

The alternate route for guests reaching post 6 pm:
Mysore – Thithimathi – Gonikoppa – Ponnampet – Machaan.
 
9. Are pets allowed at Machaan Wilderness Lodge ?

We regret to inform you that pets are strictly not allowed at the Lodge owing to the proximity to the National Park.
